A climber had to be rescued
this afternoon when he apparently slipped and fell approximately six meters
between two rock faces in Kloof Gorge, KwaZulu Natal.
Emergency services joined
forces and worked as a team to set up a rescue system to hoist the climber back
to the top.
Some rescuers managed to walk
about three kilometres around the cliff face to access the patient while others
were busy erecting the rope rescue system.
ER24 Spokesperson Werner
Vermaak said when they arrived at the patient they found that he sustained a
fracture to his foot, multiple lacerations and a possible concussion.
“He was treated on site for
some of his injuries and later hoisted to the top to be transported to
Hillcrest Private hospital for further care Vermaak added.
