New load shedding schedule for Cape Town welcomed by Cosatu

The Congress of South African Trade Union in the Western Cape has welcomed the City of Cape Town’s load shedding schedule.

The City will as from the 1st of February implement a new load shedding schedule that will provide more frequent rotation to all parts of the City.

Cosatu’s Tony Ehrenreich said these load shedding schedules are different to those that were published before. The City before mainly had load shedding in the poorer black areas, but now at least the white areas are included, and the load shedding is equally divided amongst all of the people in cape Town.

Ehrenreich said Cosatu will continue to monitor the load shedding as the City of Cape Town has shown that they prefer an advantage for wealthier white communities at the disadvantage of black communities.

“We have to have equality in Cape Town and this is an important area that must be taken forward this year” Ehrenreich added.
