The National Sea Rescue Insitute on Tuesday evening attended to an incident whereby a kite surfer was experiencing difficulty at the Langebaan Lagoon Mouth.

The 39-year-old Dutch male tragically died after he was found not breathing and without a pulse.

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said on arrival on scene we found the Dutch kite boarder lying face down in the water. He was then rescued from the water and bought to shore whereby Cardio Pulmonary Resucitation efforts commenced.

Lambinon said sadly after all efforts to try and resuscitate the man he was declared deceased by paramedics.

“The body of the man was handed into the care of the Foresnsic Pathology Services and police have opened an inquest docket. The cause of the death at this stage is unknown” Lambinon added.
