Metrorail in the Western Cape has apologized for delays this morning of up to 70 minutes plus in some areas.

Metrorail’s Riana Scott said the delays were caused by cable theft of 5 meters and 9-core cables.

Scott said the delays were between Koeberg and Salt River and between Philippi and Stock Road.

Scott said our technicians were rushed to fight immediately.

Scott said they have finished mopping up and testing.

Scott said the five meters of cable that was stolen between Nyanga and Philippi has also been replaced as services are back to normal.

"If any of our customers require confirmation of delays for their employers they are welcome to ask for those at their stations Scott added.
